Description

Oxalis, in general, has a bad name with gardeners as it includes some notoriously invasive species. However, Oxalis adenophylla is not one of these. It is non-spreading, and makes a choice, compact flowering plant for a raised bed or container. The g rey-green foliage is made up of a series of heart-shaped leaves joined together at the tips to make circular fans, which provides a subdued backdrop for the vibrant pink and white flowers. In late spring and early summer, the plants are studded with single pink flowers, with deeper mauve-pink tips to the petals. The Royal Horticultural Society has recognised it as a plant of outstanding excellence by giving it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit. Height 10cm.
