Allium sphaerocephalon should be planted in bold groups to appreciate it at its best. Grow them in dense clumps among other perennials – they associate particularly well with swaying grasses. A great choice for sunny borders and gravel gardens. Height: 90cm (36″). Spread: 8cm (3″).
A slow release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.
